We're moving!

Hello all you new followers of the Howard Colman Blog.
We have a news flash.
We are moving this blog from out here in Blogger-world to a comfy new spot under our own family umbrella at Rockford College. We hope you will come with us to our new digs. Just click on the RSS when you get there and resub.
We will still push the posts to our FaceBook page too since some like to pick the news up there.
Bear with us as we work out the snags and keep trying to improve. We're learning.
Here's the where. http://www.rockford.edu/members/blog_view.asp?id=542306
Fun!
See you there.

Tabula Rasa

Why title this blog post, Tabula Rasa?

According to Dictionary.com (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Tabula+Rasa?o=100074), Tabula rasa is Latin for “blank slate” or "a need or an opportunity to start from the beginning."

It has been a long time since we posted to the Howard Colman Blog and we suspect our followers have timed out by now, so we decided to start fresh... with a clean slate.

We have also buildt a FaceBook page for the library -that links up with this- so look for us there and become a fan of the Howard Colman Library.

Welcome back!

The semester is well underway and February is here already!

Today is the last day to drop a class so talk to your advisors and get to SAS if you need to do that.

The groundhogs are looking for shadows and right about now I vote for warmer times coming sooner than later but it sounds like we had better get ready for colder temperatures coming . . . regardless of the rodential forecast. Bundle up, whether you're walking across campus for a class or to a Super Bowl party.

The Psych Society is hosting a bakesale on Tuesday, February 6 in the Colman Library Lobby from 9 a.m. - noon. YUM! The Library Coffee Bar will be giving a FREE hot drink with the purchase of a bakesale goodie - make sure you get your FREE drink ticket with your purchase.

Just in case you didn't know, (insert shameless promotion here) the Colman Library Coffee Bar offers Ritazza Coffee, Decaf, Special Flavor of the Day, Hot Cocoa, Hot Apple Cider, Chai Latte Tea, and hot Tea - every day - for only $1.00!

Welcome if you're new and
Welcome Back if you're returning . . . either way . . . glad you're here.

Wrapping up the year.

The calendar year is wrapping up and many from our campus community have either disbursed for the holidays, or will shortly. The flurry of cookie baking, holiday gatherings, shopping, and greeting cards, is in full swing. We are reminded of all of the wonderful things acquainted with this time of the year and we celebrate - each in our own way. It is a fast and flurry filled time of year.

But, as you join with family and friends this holiday season and give gifts wrapped in lovely papers, remember to give of yourself, for that is the most precious gift you can give. By all means, share your material goods for they will be a gift to both body and spirit. But also -- listen to someone who needs to be heard -- touch someone who needs to be touched -- feed someone who needs sustenance -- tell someone that they are important, and appreciated -- tell someone about love. For by giving of yourself, you will be most blessed.

Have an enjoyable break and I will be back at my 'post' in January.
